Obesity…Is It Contagious
There are reports about virus which may cause obesity. According to Professor Nikhil Dhurandhar, the virus can be caught from other people much like the common cold. Coughs, sneezes and dirty hands are the some of ways the bug is transmitted. The virus is highly contagious and it also causes the sniffles and a sore throat.
The virus, which is named AD-36, infects the lungs first. It then goes through the body causing fat cell to multiply and gives those who are infected a sore throat. Once the virus is in the fat cells it, duplicates itself making more and more fat cells. This may explain why the fat cells continue to grow and people get fat once infected with the virus.
In a test, one third of obese people had contagious virus, while only 11 percent of thinner people had the AD-36 virus. Thankfully people can build up resistance to this virus and the weight gain may only last up to three months.
This new information supports earlier findings showing evidence found in mice and chickens that suggest the bug may cause weight gain in overweight people.
Tissue please.
Interesting.
But if this is true, why have I never met an obese vegetarian or vegan in my life? Certainly they are at the same risk for catching such a virus.
